WRTA fixed routes to end April 6; rides still offered
WARREN — The Western Reserve Transit Authority is eliminating fixed route service in both Mahoning and Trumbull counties beginning April 6 to comply with state mandates for preventing the spread of COVID-19.
However, WRTA will offer enhanced countywide transit services, meaning people in Mahoning and Trumbull counties still can schedule pickups and dropoffs on the system’s smaller transit vehicles. The service will run 6 a.m. to 6 p.m. Monday through Saturday in Mahoning County, and 6 a.m. to 6 p.m. Monday through Friday in Trumbull County.
These rides must only be for work, medical and shopping purposes. The trips can be scheduled beginning Monday by calling 330-744-8431 to register. After registration, users can schedule a trip 24 hours or up to seven days before it takes place. Visit WRTAonline. com/services/countywide for more information.
All rides will remain free during the state of emergency.
