Drug court dropout gets additional sentence

WARREN — A Bazetta man was given an additional 11-month prison term Tuesday after he pleaded guilty to a probation violation and failed his drug court program.

Daniel J. Gwinn, 25, of Housel Craft Road, was given a chance to wipe out a 2018 theft charge in drug court and violated his probation from a 2019 possession of heroin charge. Court records show that Gwinn on March 12 was given a six-month prison sentence for a conviction on a failing to comply with the order of police charge stemming from a police chase in Bazetta. Trumbull County Common Pleas Judge Andrew D. Logan said he will serve his sentence consecutive with the punishment in that case.

“I guess I didn’t take my drug problem seriously,” Gwinn told Logan before sentencing.
