Man killed in train, car collision in Columbiana

COLUMBIANA — The Columbiana Police Department is investigating an early Sunday morning train and car collision in the city that killed the driver of the car.

The collision happened at about 1:30 a.m. when a passenger train operated on a Norfolk Southern Railroad line struck a Ford Fusion at the Elm Street crossing, according to a press release. No one else was injured.

The name of the man killed is being withheld pending positive identification and notification of next of kin.

The cause of the crash is under investigation.
