Champion trustees will canvass for sound wall
CHAMPION — Township trustees will be canvassing the Stewart Street area starting at 11 a.m. today to obtain petition signatures from residents for a potential sound wall project.
Residents in the area have been seeking a sound wall because of noise from the heavily traveled nearby state Route 5.
Trustees have been in contact with the Ohio Department of Transportation on moving forward with constructing a sound wall to help alleviate highway noise for residents of Stewart Street, Relim Drive, Brookside Drive and Mahoning Place.
Officials said representatives of ODOT have set up sound monitoring equipment to record sound decibel levels coming from traffic on the bypass.
