Warren man arrested on intimidation charge
WARREN — A Burton Street SE resident is due back in Warren Municipal Court next week after police said he assaulted a woman he knows because she would not allow him to “rent” her car for the weekend.
Vir’Dez A. Evans, 30, pleaded not guilty to robbery and witness intimidation charges during a jail arraignment before Municipal Court Judge Terry Ivanchak on Tuesday. He was assigned a $25,000 bond and is scheduled to return to court Jan. 30, court records show.
He was arrested Friday after a woman was found outside of 1381 Mahoning Ave. sitting in her car with a swollen left eye and bleeding from the left side of her mouth, according to a police report.
The woman told police Evans assaulted her after she told him she would not allow him to use her Cadillac and she attempted to take control of the vehicle from him. Evans, who was driving the vehicle at the time, pulled over and got out of the vehicle.
