Warrant issued for driver in chase

VIENNA — An arrest warrant has been issued for a township man who led police on a chase through three communities on Monday.

Timothy Lambert, 54, is facing charges of failure to comply and obstructing official business, according to Girard Municipal Court records.

According to a Vienna police report, officer Michael Platt noticed a white Chrysler van being driven by Lambert around 3 p.m. Monday. Knowing Lambert had several felony warrants through Warren and Morrow County, Platt attempted to stop him, but Lambert sped off, the report states.

The van traveled out of Vienna and into Warren, where the Vienna police cruiser was joined by a Warren police car that was in a parking lot on East Market Street at Genesee Avenue NE when the two vehicles passed it, according to a Warren police report.

As the van traveled north on Logan Avenue NE, the driver attempted to turn east on High Street, but because of his speed had to come to a complete stop, according to the report.

When Platt attempted to get in front of the van, the driver of the van turned right and struck the left side of Platt’s cruiser, according to the report.

The van’s driver then traveled east on High Street, according to the report. The Warren officer broke off the chase after the suspect drove into Niles.

“The damage to our vehicle is mostly cosmetic,” Vienna police Chief Bob Ludt said. “We do not know the estimated costs. We will leave that to be determined by the insurance companies.”

Vienna police are asking anyone with knowledge on the whereabout of Lambert to call Vienna police at 330-856-4421.
