Cortland police officer arrested on DUI charge
CORTLAND — A part-time police officer with the Cortland Police Department is on unpaid leave after being arrested on charges of driving under the influence and failure to control a vehicle.
Officer Tiffany Wolfe, 28, 227 Shadow Drive, Sharpsville, Pa., is on leave pending an investigation by the Ohio State Highway Patrol and an internal investigation by Cortland police, according to Cortland police Chief David Morris.
Wolfe was involved in a one-car rollover on Bradlee Brownlee Road near Bushnell Road in Vernon Township around 6:30 p.m. Saturday, according to the patrol. WFMJ 21 News reported Wolfe’s Jeep crossed the center line, struck a culvert, rolled over and struck a tree.
A complaint was filed Tuesday morning in the Trumbull County Eastern District Court for charges of driving under the influence and failure to control. Wolfe did not appear for a hearing Tuesday. She told the court her ticket stated the hearing was Wednesday. It will be rescheduled.
Wolfe has been with the Cortland department since August, according to Morris. She was one of several officers thanked with a city resolution for her efforts in assisting Cortland police officer Nicholas Mancini after he crashed his cruiser while suffering a heart attack on duty in September.
Wolfe had four years full-time experience in Hubbard and seven years total law enforcement training when she started working in Cortland, according to a previous statement from Morris.
