Trumbull candidates file for office

WARREN — A number of Trumbull County candidates filed nominating petitions for the March 17 primary.

County Engineer Randy Smith and Recorder Tod Latell both filed Tuesday for re-election as Democrats.

David DeChristofaro, a former engineer, already filed for the seat as a Democrat while no one else has even pulled petitions for recorder.

Dec. 18 is the filing deadline for the primary.

Also, Martha Yoder, a former Farmington trustee, filed petitions for the Ohio House’s 64th District seat as a Republican. She’s unsuccessfully run for the seat in 2016 and 2018, losing to incumbent Michael J. O’Brien, D-Warren. O’Brien has pulled petitions, but hadn’t filed as of Tuesday.

Werner Lange — who has unsuccessfully run for elected office including Congress last year _ filed to run as a Democrat in the Ohio House’s 63rd District as a Democrat. Incumbent Gil Blair, D-Weathersfield, has pulled petitions, but hasn’t filed as of Tuesday.

Meanwhile, Lawrence D’Amico, deputy county coroner, has filed to run in the Democratic primary for coroner. Michael Jurenovich, an orthopaedic surgeon, has also filed as a Democrat for the seat.

Coroner Thomas James previously said he didn’t intend on running for the seat in the 2020 election. His term expires Jan. 3, 2021.
