Overdose death trend continues

WARREN — The trend in accidental drug overdose deaths in Trumbull County continues with the release of the latest data from the coroner’s office.

While overdoses are up over the same time in 2018, they remain lower than the record-setting year in 2017.

As of Oct. 8, 78 people have died in Trumbull County from an accidental drug overdose. The number was at 60 in 2018, and at 105 on Oct. 8, 2017.

There are 11 additional cases believed to be the result of accidental drug overdoses, but the results of toxicology screens have not yet been returned, said Kathy Meszaros, chief forensic investigator for the coroner’s office.
