WHAT: Board of Education meeting Monday

PRESENT: Tarin Brown, Tom Gifford, Michelle Garman, Jim Pegg and Rex Rager

The board:

• Approved placing Adrianna Lamonge, long-term substitute, on a one-year limited contract effective Dec. 3 at a daily rate of $179.43;

• Approved 12-week FMLA leave for Tom Terpin, effective Oct. 21;

• Approved adding a guidance counselor for kindergarten through fourth-grade students, effective Feb. 3;

• Approved a change of assignment for Samantha Hintemeyer, moving her from junior high English / language arts to kindergarten through fourth-grade guidance counselor, effective Feb. 3;

• Approved a change of assignment for Rhonda Hilliard from kindergarten through sixth-grade guidance counselor to grades 5 through 8 guidance counselor, effective Feb. 3;

• Approved a change of assignment for Julie Berkhouse from grades 7 through 12 guidance counselor to grades 9 through 12 guidance counselor, effective Feb. 3;

• Accepted the resignation of Cassie Wakefield, bus driver, effective Jan. 6;

• Hired Michelle Hinegarnder as a junior high school math teacher at a salary of $41,922 (pro-rated for the remainder of the school year), pending proof of proper credentials, and BCI / FBI checks, effective Jan. 2;

• Approved the formation of a new supplemental position titled “assistant girls varsity basketball coach” at a stipend of $3,242.

• Hired Kaitlin Marshall and Logan Culp, assistant outdoor track coaches, splitting $990; Jim Buckner, head varsity track coach at $3,242; Jim Nicula, head softball coach at $3,242; Jason Lee, freshman boys basketball coach at $1,980; Stephen Sponsler, assistant varsity girls basketball coach at $3,242; Zachary Granelly, junior varsity baseball coach at $1,980; Sadie Bertok, assistant junior high track coach at $1,315; Jared Terlecky, varsity baseball coach at $3,242; Jeremy Forsythe, volunteer baseball coach; and Stephen Sponsler, assistant volunteer softball coach;

• Approved continued membership in the Ohio School Boards Association. Annual fees for the 2019 board membership are $3,662. The board also approved participating in the Ohio School Boards Association’s Legal Assistance Fund for calendar year 2020 and authorizes the treasurer to pay the legal assistance fund $250.
