Man robs, threatens store worker

WARREN — An employee of the Family Dollar, 378 Elm Road NE, fought off a robber with an umbrella shortly after 10:35 a.m. Saturday, when she confronted him about items she saw him put into his pockets .

The employee in a police report said a man believed to be in his late 40s with dark, but graying hair, wearing black red and white sweat pants and a rain jacket walked into the store and began putting items into the jacket pockets.

When confronted about the items, the robber lunged at the employee, chased her across the front of the store, until she picked up an unbrella and began swinging at him, according to the police report.

He turned, walked out of the store, while threatening to return and harm her.
