Bazetta places fire levy on ballot

BAZETTA — Trustees have taken the last step needed to place a new 4-mill replacement levy on the March 17 ballot.

If approved by voters, it would replace a 4-mill continuous fire levy passed in 1994 and generate revenue based on 2020 property values. The levy would raise about $160,000 for department operations.

Also Friday, trustees approved spending up to $4,000 to straighten and arrange headstones at Hillside Cemetery that were disturbed when a tornado swept through in January.
