Woman, dogs escape house fire

WARREN TOWNSHIP — A woman and two dogs were able to escape from a Sunday house fire in the 200 block of Gillmer Road.

A 911 report states Warren Township fire crews were called out around 7 a.m., with assistance from fire departments in Braceville, Champion, Lordstown, Newton Falls and Southington.

Reports state callers to 911 who were driving by saw the fire and smoke and assisted in getting the women and the dogs out of the home. Local residents told safety crews they thought they heard a possible explosion. The cause is under investigation by the fire marshal’s office.
