Participants sought for Veterans Day parade
WARREN — Veterans whose stories were told this year as part of the Tribune Chronicle veterans series are invited to be part of the annual Trumbull County Veterans Day parade Nov. 11.
The marching band from Warren G. Harding High School will participate, but the opportunity exists for other groups to be part of the annual event.
“We want the community to participate and show support of the veterans,” said Sue Shafer, community events coordinator for the Tribune Chronicle.
Walking units, vehicles, floats or other types of units are encouraged. There is no charge to participate. The deadline to enter is Nov. 1.
The parade will begin at 12:15 p.m. at Perkins Park. It follows the annual Trumbull County Veterans Day Federation ceremony, held at 11 a.m. at First Presbyterian Church, 256 Mahoning Ave. NW.
The parade will travel south on Mahoning Avenue, past a review stand set up near the Trumbull County Veterans’ Memorial and then east on Market Street through the downtown area, passing the Samuel E. Lanza Veterans Resource Center.
Sponsored by the Tribune Chronicle since 2003, the parade is one way the newspaper shows appreciation and admiration for not only local service men and women, but those nationwide.
