Mother pleads to gross neglect of corpse and drug charges

WARREN — A woman who left the corpse of her stillborn child in a garbage bag in a Kenmore Avenue SE garage in late July 2018 pleaded guilty to a charge of gross abuse of a corpse and possession of drugs.

Lisa Marie Jordan, 31, of 1056 Kenmore, appeared Monday for a hearing before Judge Peter Kontos. A pre-sentencing investigation was ordered for her.

Jordan, according to county assistant prosecutor Diane Barber, was taken to Trumbull Regional Medical Center on July 30 by a relative, due to an illness. There, it was found that she had given birth five days earlier.

Jordan told police investigators that she had miscarried. She left the baby’s body in the garage at 1056 Kenmore.

An autopsy by the Cuyahoga County cororner’s office determined that the eight-month-term baby had traces of oxycodone and morphine in his system.

During an interview with police, Jordan, according to prosecutors, said she attempted to cause a self-induced abortion during an earlier phase of her pregnancy, but was unsuccessful.
