Man pleads not guilty in stabbing case

WARREN — A not-guilty plea was entered Monday in Warren Municipal Court for Taquoy R. White, 20, of Elm Court Northeast, on felonious assault in a Saturday night stabbing of his mother’s boyfriend. Bond was set at $5,000.

Police were called to Elm Court at 6:30 p.m., where they found a man, 38, of Palmyra Road Southwest, with a stab wound to the upper back.

They also found White, who said he stabbed the other man to protect himself and his mother because the victim was threatening to kill him. White said he stabbed the victim when he was not looking.

The victim said White accused him of stealing $20, so the victim turned to leave. That’s when White stabbed him with a pocket knife, police said.

White said he used a broken piece of wood, but neither wood nor pocket knife were found, police said.

The victim was treated by ambulance personnel but refused to be taken to the hospital.
