Man charged with trying to rob Walgreens

WARREN — Matthew W. Carvin, 51, of North Park Avenue in Bristolville, will be arraigned today in Warren Municipal Court on charges related to Sunday night’s robbery attempt at Walgreens, police said.

Carvin was arrested after an employee at Walgreens, 804 W. Market St., reported that a man acted like he was buying a beverage and then said, “Give me the money. I have a gun.” The employee walked away from the register.

Police found Carvin at West Market and Buckeye Street and took him into custody.

He told police he had just gotten out of prison and was “acting crazy,” the report states.

Surveillance video shows that the would-be robber reached under the counter, apparently in the area of the cash drawer. Nothing was stolen, police said.
