Car crashes into laundromat

GIRARD — Girard police and fire departments were called Wednesday night to the Laundry Baskets Laundromat on West Broadway Avenue for a report of an explosion and smoke.

A vehicle had crashed into the side of the building. The front half of the car was damaged and the force from impact pushed three dryers away from the wall.

Two witnesses said the driver, Emmor Snyder, 92, came into the laundromat and didn’t know what had happened, according to the police report.

The building was evacuated due to a potential gas leak, the utilities were turned off and the firefighters returned items from the dryers to those evacuated outside.

The owner of the business was notified. Snyder was cited with failure to control.
