Warren Township seeks new police chief

WARREN TOWNSHIP — Township trustees are seeking a new police chief to replace Don Bishop, who retired earlier this summer.

Trustee Ed Anthony said Tuesday that acting Chief Dan Peterson wants to return to his sergeant’s position once a new chief is found. Anthony said trustees had been interviewing for a new full-time police officer. Because Peterson will return to being a sergeant, they will accept resumes through Sept. 1 and then schedule interviews for a full-time chief.

Anthony said officials are seeking someone with at least 10 years’ law enforcement experience with applications available at township hall, 3765 W. Market St., Leavittsburg, OH 44430, where resumes can be sent or dropped off.

Also, trustees are planning a public meeting in late September with Eastgate Regional Council of Governments and Ohio Environmental Protection Agency over the status of the dam off North Leavitt Road. Anthony said a meeting will be held at the Johnson Community Center with date to be announced later.
