Police: Warren couple robbed, man shot in leg

WARREN — A man was shot in his leg around 1 a.m. Saturday and robbed of $100 when he and his wife pulled into the driveway of their 1145 Ward St. home, according to a Trumbull County 911 call log.

A slender man wearing a black hoodie with the hood tied tightly around his head came from behind the home of Rashawn and Candy D. Shipp. As they walked toward their house, he demanded cash.

After giving the man what they had, the robber tried to force them inside of the home, but they moved away from the property, according to Candy Shipp. The robber fired his gun and hit Rashawn Shipp once in the leg.

The couple, according to the police report, could not see his face because of the hood, according to a Trumbull County 911 dispatch sheet.

Police recovered spent shell casings from the scene.

Rashawn Shipp was taken to Trumbull Memorial Hospital and treated for superficial wounds. He was released.

The robbery is under investigation.
