WHAT: Board of Education meeting Wednesday

PRESENT: Don Mickel, Misty Berry, Scott Chapman and Kristina Stephens

ABSENT: Kathy Johnson

The board:

• Hired Leah Nicholas as integrated social studies teacher; Lindsey Golub as intervention specialist; and Erica Cameron as Title I teacher for the 2019-20 school year;

• Received a $1,800 Small Rural School Education Achievement grant from the U.S. Department of Education for student Chromebooks;

• Approved Michele Stewart and Gregg Isler as substitute principals at $200 per day on an as-needed basis;

• Accepted the resignations of Melissa Donatelli and Diana Zidian as elementary teachers effective July 31;

• Approved a contract with Bristol Public Library for various library services at $8,000 for the 2019-20 school year;

• Heard from Superintendent Christopher Dray that staff completed the “Stop the Bleed” training last spring in case of emergency situations where a student or staff member is seriously wounded or injured. There are supply buckets at the school to be used to stop bleeding and injuries;

• Appointed Stephens as delegate and Chapman as alternate to the Ohio Schools Boards Association annual business meeting in November;

• Approved membership in the Ohio Coalition for Equity and Adequacy in school funding;

• Approved the bus routes and stops with the understanding that changes will be made periodically as needed;

• Accepted payment of $7,748 for the Epson laser projector for districtwide usage;

• Approved Shirley Arroyo-Stiffey as a teaching substitute on one-year contract for the school year.
