Man arrested after police chase

WEATHERSFIELD — A Lordstown man is in jail after leading police on a chase early Monday morning, according to Tribune Chronicle news partner WKBN 27.

The incident began around 12:50 a.m. in Weathersfield when officers attempted to stop Trever Griswold, 34, on Salt Springs Road. Griswold took off, reaching speeds of 80 miles per hour, before driving through a yard, hitting a stop sign and going into a field off Miller Garber Road, according to a police report.

He was forced to stop some time after hitting a police cruiser. Weathersfield, Newton Falls, Lordstown and the Trumbull County Sheriff’s Office were involved in the chase, according to WKBN.

Griswold was arrested on charges of failure to comply and resisting arrest, as well as several traffic offenses, according to Trumbull County jail records. Griswold previously was booked on charges of disorderly conduct, drug abuse and obstructing official business.

He is being held at the county jail without bond and will appear in Niles Municipal Court on Aug. 20, court records show.
