Hoerig appeal delayed again

WARREN — Attorneys for Claudia Hoerig want more time to file an appeal of her murder conviction while they investigate “serious” allegations rising out of a meeting between Hoerig and an investigator who worked on her case.

Although several extensions have been granted, attorney Michael Partlow asked for more time so he could determine if the allegations will impact Hoerig’s appeal, according to the motion filed last week.

A Trumbull County Common Pleas Court magistrate gave Partlow until Thursday to file the appeal of her 2019 conviction of aggravated murder for the 2007 shooting death of her husband, U.S. Air Force Maj. Karl Hoerig.

The investigator involved in the meetings with Hoerig works for the Office of the Ohio Public Defender. Public records requests for information were sent Monday to the state office.
