Car hits youth riding bike

WARREN — A Mecca boy was thrown from a bicycle and seriously injured when he was hit by a car Wednesday on state Route 88 near Morrell Ray Road, according to the Ohio State Highway Patrol.

Samantha Frank, 21, of Cortland, was driving a 2015 Ford Escape east and as she passed the boy, who was headed in the same direction, he abruptly turned in front of the vehicle and was hit, according to the patrol.

The boy was was transported to St. Elizabeth Youngstown Hospital. Frank was not injured. The patrol is investigating.
