Warren woman killed in Geauga crash

TROY TOWNSHIP — A Warren woman was killed in a crash on U.S. Route 422 in Geauga County Monday evening after she went left of center and collided head-on with another vehicle, according to the Chardon post of the Ohio State Highway Patrol.

Meghan McKenzie, 29, was heading east on Route 422 in a Kia Sorento when she crossed the center line and hit a Jaguar head-on, causing it to catch on fire, according to a news release from the post. The driver of the Jaguar has not been identified, but the patrol said he was flown to University Hospital’s main campus and is in critical condition.

McKenzie was not wearing a seatbelt and was pronounced dead at the scene. Bystanders helped remove the drivers from their vehicles, the patrol said.

The crash, which is still under investigation, occurred around 6:30 p.m. Monday near Jug Street. The patrol said this was the sixth fatal crash in Geauga County this year.
