Ryan visits detention center
WARREN — U.S. Rep. Timothy J. Ryan left his visit to a migrant detention center in Homestead, Fla., saying the children still being incarcerated is a “failure of the Trump Administration.”
Ryan and other Democrats on the House Appropriations Committee visited the Homestead Emergency Influx Care Facility, the largest in operation for migrant children in the U.S. It houses boys and girls ages 13-17 who have arrived in the country without parents or legal guardians. There are more than 2,000 migrant children now at the facility.
Ryan called for a “comprehensive trauma-informed care program” for the children and to have them reunited with their families. The group visited the center Monday.
