Man pleads not guilty in assault

WARREN — A Hazelwood Avenue resident pleaded not guilty to a felony charge of domestic violence Thursday after he was arrested in connection with an assault on the mother of his 10-month-old child.

Delshawn Redd, 36, 1746 Hazelwood Ave. SE, was arrested at 11:55 p.m. Wednesday after police responded to a call from Candice Fox, 27, 770 Glenwood St. NE, where they found her with a torn t-shirt, a swollen eye and scratches on the right side of her neck and chest area, according to a police report.

When officers arrived at the Glenwood Street address, the front door was open and several pieces of male clothing were on the porch. No one was in the house. Fox was found in the back yard, according to the police report.

She told officers a verbal argument escalated into a physical fight. Redd pushed Fox to the ground and landed on her with all his weight, according to a police report. After being allowed to get up, Fox ran out of the house and called police.

Redd was released from the Trumbull County Jail after posting bond following his arraignment Thursday and is due back in Warren Municipal Court July 25, court records show.
