WHAT: Park Board meeting Tuesday

PRESENT: Dana Butto, Harry Salapata and John Yuhasz

The board:

• Heard from resident Beth Nolen asking about the status of additional playground equipment. Park Director Bob Burke said it is on order with some hands-on playground units already in. Additional equipment will replace the disc golf course that will no longer be at the park. The equipment will be placed by the small pavilion and sandbox and other items by the existing playground;

• Heard from Burke upcoming park projects include a walking trail and agility hoops for the dog park. Burke said flooring work was done at the cabin at Stevens Park. He said Youngstown State University would assist in getting grants for a splash pad down the road after the swimming pool building is taken down. He said he will request additional funds from council, noting fences that were damaged by fallen trees need fixed at the parks;

• Announced Harry Stevens Day at Eastwood Field will be June 21 with funds to help Avenue and Main with its upcoming celebration;

• Announced the farmers market 4 to 7 p.m. various Thursdays July 11 to Sept. 26 has been moved to the McKinley Memorial Library lawn for more visibility;

• Announced Movie Night at Park 9 p.m. July 12 near the wellness center. Donations of food items will be collected for the Niles Middle School Dragon Pantry;

• Scheduled only one meeting for summer at 4 p.m. July 30 and they resume Sept. 10.
