Downtown streets to close for Pride festival

WARREN — Roads in Warren’s downtown Courthouse Square will be closed 6 p.m. Friday until 11:30 p.m. Saturday for the city’s first festival celebrating LGBTQIA+ people — Pride in the Valley.

All of the streets in the square will be closed — Market Street, North Park Avenue, Mahoning Avenue and High Street.

A pride parade kicks off the festival 12:30 p.m. Saturday at Warren City Hall and will travel around Courthouse Square. The festival is going on rain or shine. The festival is free and features drag shows from 1 to 2 p.m. and 7 to 8:30 p.m. Saturday, along with other live entertainment. Pride in the Valley is a nonprofit building community outreach for “Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender, Questioning, Queer, Intersex, and Asexual and our Allies,” the group’s website says.
