Twin brothers stabbed in Niles; woman arrested

NILES — Twin brothers were stabbed by one of their ex-girlfriends shortly after midnight Tuesday during a fight at the brothers’ Scott Avenue home, according to police.

Bruce and Robert Hileman, 25, 407 Scott Ave., were stabbed with an unknown weapon by Brittany Russo, 22, 4311 Harvard St. SE, Warren, during a fight that began inside a car as Bruce Hileman was breaking up with her, according to a police report.

The couple, who had been drinking Monday evening during a celebration of his birthday, were arguing as she drove him home from High Pointe bar.

Once outside of the brothers’ home, Russo grabbed an unknown sharp object and began stabbing Bruce on his right index finger and his right shoulder, the police report states.

Robert, 25, ran outside and yelled for his brother to get out of the car. When Bruce stepped out, Robert noticed he had blood all over his shirt.

As the Hilemans went into the house and uptstairs, Russo followed, according to the police report. She stabbed Robert as they were walking up the stairs.

“Oh my, I’m so sorry I did that to you,” she told Robert Hileman, the report states.

Robert Hileman was stabbed once on the left side of his chest and twice on the left side of his back, according to the report. Russo, however, continued following Bruce up the stairs into his bedroom, where she continued her assault. Robert pulled her off Bruce, the report states.

Russo then grabbed her cellphone and ran outside and drove away. She was later arrested and charged with two counts of felonious assault. She is being held in the Trumbull County Jail on a $100,000 bond.

Russo is expected to be arraigned today in Niles Municipal Court.
