Trumbull County coroner identifies body found in Mahoning River

WARREN — The body found in the Mahoning River in Perkins Park Tuesday evening has been identified as Bryan Ayala, 17, 1912 Robert Lane NE, Warren, according to the Trumbull County Coroner’s Office.

Ayala was identified using a dental record comparison, according to officials. The body was found lodged in a tree in the Mahoning River by a man preparing to play in a softball game in the park. Police also found a backpack nearby.

There was no identification found on the body. The cause of death is still pending, according to the coroner’s office.

Ayala was reported missing May 3 after family members said he left the house without his cellphone and never returned, according to reports.
