PaddleFest takes to the river

WARREN — The first PaddleFest on the Mahoning River, sponsored by Trumbull County MetroParks and Mahoning River Adventures, is scheduled 10 a.m. to noon Saturday at Canoe City Metro Park.

Participants can take part in free kayak demonstrations and rides, and order off a select menu provided by Cockeye BBQ.

The free paddle is first-come, first-served, but to use Mahoning River Adventures’ kayaks or its shuttle service for the 12:30 to 3 p.m. joint, organized paddle down the river, reservations must be made. A limited amount of kayaks are available. Visit www.paddletheriver.com for more information.

People can bring their own canoes or kayaks to participate but will have to pay a fee for the shuttle service, if it is utilized.

Representatives from Trumbull Canoe Trails and Friends of the Mahoning River will also be present to share information about their organizations.
