One shot, one arrested in Warren shooting incident
WARREN — A 21-year-old was arrested following an early morning shooting Wednesday outside 2158 Peace Ave. that led to one man being shot in the back.
Devonta K. Binion, 5985 Mahoning Ave. NW, pleaded not guilty to a charge of carrying a concealed weapon during a hearing before Municipal Judge Terry Ivanchak. Binion was assigned a $25,000 bond.
Binion was arrested during an investigation of shots being fired into an apartment building.
As police rushed to the scene, officers received a report that a resident at 540 Federal St. NW reported hearing multiple shots and seeing an “out of breath” person running past his window toward Comstock Avenue, according to a report.
Officers noticed a sliding glass door at 2156 Peace Ave. being shattered and a group of people with their hands full of items getting into a car in a nearby parking lot, the police report states.
One of the passengers, Andre Kerr, 22, 1046 Buena Vista Ave. NE., stated he had been shot in the back. During a search, police found a camouflaged National Guard bag containing a Glock handgun and a large amount of marijuana, suspected cocaine, and suspected crack, the report states.
