WHAT: City Council regular meeting Monday

PRESENT: Deidre Petrosky, Patti Keller, Kevin Piros, Kathy Fleischer, James Edwards, Don Moore and Scott Rowley


• Approved an amendment in the contract with Republic Services of Youngstown that will raise the rate for garbage removal by 49 cents a month, or about $1.50 per quarterly billing, effective Aug. 31. All services provided will remain the same;

• Announced the splash pad at Pearl Park will be open 11 a.m to 7 p.m. daily starting Monday;

• Announced mosquito spraying will be May 29 and brush chipping will take place starting May 27;

• Announced a celebration of the 75th anniversary of Mosquito Creek Lake will be 9 a.m. to noon June 15, with guided dam tours 9 a.m. to 10 a.m. and a ceremony at 10:30 a.m. The event is hosted by the Army Corps of Engineers;

• Announced a gold star marker will be dedicated at Veterans Memorial Park on June 30 at 1:30 p.m. The gold star represents families that lost loved ones in battle, according to Mayor Jim Woofter;

• Heard from police Chief David Morris a police cruiser Impala sold for $17,000 at auction and from fire Chief David Rea an ambulance sold for $3,850.
