Man, son killed in Campbell crash
CAMPBELL — A father and son died in a crash Thursday morning in Campbell on their way to school.
The Ohio State Highway Patrol said Paul “Mike” Pickett, 41, and his 11-year-old son, Marcus Pickett, died when the Jeep Wrangler they were in flipped over on Sixth Street, near Wilson Avenue.
Leena Pickett, 12, was injured in the crash and was taken to St. Elizabeth Youngstown Hospital with what troopers said was non-life-threatening injuries. State troopers are using an accident reconstruction team to try to find out what led to the fatal crash.
The patrol said Pickett was driving the Jeep south on Sixth Street about 7:30 a.m. when he went off the right side of the road. The Jeep became airborne after hitting an embankment and rolled over.
Troopers were able to speak with the surviving victim, but the patrol said it’s still too early to tell what caused Pickett to lose control.
