Man reports theft using cash app on cellphone

WARREN — A city resident filed a police report stating his ex-girlfriend has been using his cash app to withdraw $2,413.05 from his Seven Seventeen Credit Union account to pay members of her family and friends.

Lashawn Ziegler, 46, 4302 Harvard Drive, filed a police report at the police station on Wednesday stating an ex-girlfriend somehow discovered his password on a phone app called “Cash App” that allows him to transfer money directly from his account to another person’s account, according to a police report.

Ziegler showed officers eight unauthorized transactions from his account that were made to his ex-girlfriend, her mother and brother as well as to one of her friends. He also showed them several transactions made on the Seven Seventeen account at Shoe Carnival for $197.64 that he did not authorize, the report states.

He was advised to speak to a prosecutor about filing charges.
