Two drivers killed in crash

BRACEVILLE — Two drivers were killed after a crash on Interstate 80 westbound near the Braceville Robinson bridge around 2 a.m. Saturday, according to the Ohio State Highway Patrol’s Hiram post.

A 1999 Honda Accord was eastbound in the westbound lanes of I-80 when it hit a 1997 Toyota Camry head-on, according to the patrol. Both vehicles then went off the road and the Camry hit a guardrail.

The driver of the Accord, Gerald Bemis, 50, of Frederick, Maryland, was killed.

The driver of the Toyota Camry, Guilberta Rivera Ortiz, 42, of Cleveland, also died.

The passenger of the Camry, Luis A. Duran, had minor injuries and was taken to Trumbull Regional Medical Center.

The Ohio State Highway Patrol is investigating the cause of the crash, but says alcohol is believed to be a factor.
