Champion seeks grants for radios
CHAMPION — Township officials will see what grants may be available to get MARCS radios for the police and fire departments.
Police Chief Jeff White told trustees this week his department needs eight radios and said there is a monthly fee of $10 per radio. He said Federal Emergency Management Agency grants may be available.
The fire department is also seeking MARCS radios which many departments are changing to.
Road supervisor Chris Connelly said they also are looking at what grants would be available for mosquito spraying. The Ohio EPA offers grants up to $10,000.
