Mahoning GOP chair to retire
YOUNGSTOWN — Mahoning County Republican Party Chairman Mark Munroe has announced he is retiring as party chairman, effective Feb. 21.
The announcement was made Saturday at a meeting of the party’s executive committee.
Munroe has been elected three times as party chairman and is in his ninth year at the helm. He has served 25 years on the Mahoning County Board of Elections and has represented the party in other capacities.
Under party by-laws, members of the county central committee will meet to elect a new chairman at 7 p.m. Feb. 21. Munroe said he plans to stay active in the party as a volunteer.
