Hubbard mayor won’t run again

HUBBARD — Having served the past seven years as Hubbard’s mayor and more than 20 years as a member of city council, John Darko announced this week he will finish his remaining year as mayor and not seek re-election.

“It is time to move on and close this chapter in my life,” Darko said, adding he plans to spend more time with family.

Darko served 1988 to 1996 on city council as second ward councilman and then became president of council in 1996, serving in that position until 2009. Darko was elected mayor in 2012 and then won re-election. His four-year term runs through December 2019.
