Former rehab owner faces drug charges

LISBON — In just the latest round of legal trouble for the owner and operator of the now-closed Braking Point Recovery Center, Ryan P. Sheridan, pleaded not guilty Thursday in Columbiana County Common Pleas Court to various drug possession charges.

After the arraignment, he remained free on a $25,000 recognizance bond. Dates have not been scheduled yet for his next appearances.

Sheridan, 38, with homes in Girard and Leetonia, is charged with 15 counts of possession of drugs, 14 of which were felony charges.

On Oct. 18, 2017, Sheridan allegedly had boldenone udecylenate, testosterone enanthate, dostranolone propionate, tenbolone acetate, methandrostenolone, stanozolol, oxandrolone, testosterone decanoate, nandrolone decanoate, testosterone cypionate, cocaine, methylphenidate, amphetamine, dextroamaphetamine and oxymetholone.

Most of those drugs allegedly found in his Fairfield Township home during a raid in October 2017 are types of steroids and some were found in large amounts, making four of the charges third-degree felonies.

The indictment was issued last month by a grand jury in Columbiana County.

Sheridan is the former owner of a drug and alcohol recovery center called Braking Point in Austintown and Whitehall.

His homes and at least one of the businesses were raided by authorities late last year with the FBI, Department of Health and Human Services, the Drug Enforcement Agency, the IRS, the Attorney General’s Medicaid Fraud Control unit and the Ohio Pharmacy Board involved in the raids.

Federal courts have ordered the seizure of property Sheridan is believed to have purchased with proceeds of nearly $3 million following a civil complaint which claimed he obtained those funds through health care fraud and money laundering.
