Woman, 90, attacked by dog

WARREN TOWNSHIP — An elderly woman was flown via helicopter to the hospital after being atatcked by her neighbor’s dog on Wednesday, according to a police report.

The woman, 90, was walking to her back porch on Eagle Creek Road when the dog broke free and ran after her, according to the dog’s owner. The dog bit the woman in the face, throat, stomach and leg, with one of the bites puncturing her trachea, the report states.

The victim was taken to St. Elizabeth Youngstown Hospital and then transferred to University Hospital in Cleveland. The Trumbull County dog warden said the dog will be put down and tested for rabies.

Police said the dog’s owner is cooperating and no charges have been filed.
