LaBrae schools to add food pantry

LEAVITTSBURG –The LaBrae Local School District will be adding its first food pantry to assist students who may need food.

The board of education has entered into a contract with Second Harvest Food Bank of the Mahoning Valley to establish a district-wide food pantry at the schools under the food bank’s School Pantry Partner Program.

Superintendent Anthony Calderone said that a pantry was needed.

Several other districts, including Warren, Girard and Niles, have food pantries. Other districts, such as Newton Falls and Howland, have backpack programs with food provided to students on weekends.
