Howland officer injured in crash
HOWLAND — A township police officer was treated for minor injuries Saturday evening after his cruiser was struck by an SUV on state Route 46, according to the Ohio State Highway Patrol.
The patrol said the driver of the Lincoln SUV, who they did not identify, ran a red light at state Routes 46 and 82, and broadsided the northbound cruiser, which was turning left onto Route 82 west. The crash happened around 7 p.m.
The officer, who also was not identified, was taken to St. Joseph Warren Hospital and later released. The driver of the SUV was not injured and was cited on a charge of failure to yield at a red light, the patrol said.
