Woman arrested in bar stabbing

Girard woman, 33, reported as victim

WARREN — A woman accused of stabbing another woman early Sunday morning outside of the Premier Bar on North Park Avenue pleaded not guilty Monday in Warren Municipal Court to a charge of felonious assault.

Tara Rutherford, 1180 Roberts Ave., Warren, remains in the Trumbull County Jail on $35,000 bond.

According to a police report, Rutherford, 29, arrived just before 1 a.m. at the bar, 2261 N. Park Ave., and told security she was there to see a friend who was already inside.

Because Rutherford did not have identification, the guard walked her inside, where she grabbed another woman by the hair and started to drag her toward the door, the report states.

Security separated the women and escorted them out, according to the report.

Once outside, Rutherford pulled out a black lock blade-style knife and started to swing it around, the report states.

Stabbed in the left side of her chest was Raven L. Cooper, 33, 2759 W. Liberty St., Girard. Cooper was taken to Trumbull Regional Medical Center, according to Tribune Chronicle news partner WKBN 27. Her condition was unknown Monday.

Rutherford was knocked to the ground by the bar’s security, according to the police report. The knife was retrieved from under a vehicle.

Rutherford is scheduled to have a preliminary hearing on Aug. 6 before Judge Terry Ivanchak.
