Bazetta trustees remove officer for poor conduct
BAZETTA — Trustees on Monday terminated police officer Dylan Herrick at the recommendation of police Chief Mike Hovis.
Hovis fired Herrick on June 12 for conduct unbecoming an officer following a June 6 incident where he was accused of assaulting his ex-girlfriend in Warren. Hovis had given Herrick an opportunity to resign from the department when he received a text containing a photo from Herrick’s Facebook page with a derogatory message about the chief.
Trustees also hired Michael Walker as a part-time police officer at $8.30 per hour. When Walker finishes the department’s training program, he will become a full-time officer.
