Child, others injured in 2-vehicle crash
LIBERTY — Several people, including one child, were injured in a Thursday night crash.
The two-vehicle, head-on crash occurred on Tibbetts Wick Road, just west of state Route 11 just after 8 p.m., according to Ohio State Highway Patrol Trooper Matthew Abbey.
Kristen Sturm, 34, of Warren, and her daughter Lucia, 4, were westbound in a Chevrolet Traverse on Tibbetts Wick Road when they were struck head on by Ronald Orwig Jr., 37, of Girard, who was eastbound in a Pontiac G6.
Abbey said Orwig told him he went left of center because he was reaching for a CD. He was cited for driving left of center and no seatbelt. Speed, alcohol and drugs were not factors in the crash, Abbey said.
Sturm was wearing a seatbelt and her daughter was in a car seat. Abbey said everyone was conscious and alert after the crash and they were all sent to St. Elizabeth Youngstown Hospital with non-capacitating injuries.
“They had injuries, but they were talking and we got statements from both of them,” Abbey said.
