JFK gets new upper campus principal
WARREN — The John F. Kennedy Catholic School Board of Directors has named Alyse Consiglio as the new principal at the JFK Upper Campus, effective July 1.
Consiglio, who has been in the field of education for 14 years, worked as a teacher at LaBrae schools and also for the Trumbull County Educational Service Center as a curriculum and instruction supervisor for classroom technology, working with administrators and teachers to integrate technology into the classroom,
Also, JFK was able to secure funds from families, alumni and a lead gift of $15,000 from the Regina M. Rebhan Foundation for Chromebooks for each student in grades K-12 for the upcoming school year.
Grenades found in man’s belongings
CORTLAND — Two grenades were removed from a home in Cortland by the Youngstown Bomb Squad after a man found them in his deceased father-in-law’s belongings, according to a Cortland police report.
Cortland police were called just before 4:30 p.m. Monday to 25 Spring Creek Drive by Robert Oatridge, who told police he found the yellow grenades in some boxes that were previously stored in a Youngstown home by his father-in-law, a police report states.
The bomb squad removed the grenades and took them back to Youngstown to be detonated, according to the report.
Rally opposes repeal of ACA
WARREN — Members of Valley Voices United for Change, a local grassroots organization, will rally in support of legislation before Warren City Council that opposes the repeal of the Affordable Care Act.
City council is expected to vote on the resolution tonight when it meets at 6 p.m. at the Municipal Justice Building, 141 South St. SE. Members of the organization plan to rally at 5:30 p.m. outside the building.
Sanitary engineer has job post
WARREN — An entry-level laborer position with the Trumbull County Sanitary Engineer’s Office is open, according to the Trumbull County Human Resources Department.
The position is open for applications until Tuesday and the starting pay is $9.76 an hour to start and $10.37 an hour after six months of employment.
The employee will be responsible for general maintenance work — like mowing grass, weeding and cleaning floors.
