City, county help with Safe Routes to School grant

WARREN — City, county and school leaders have joined forces to apply for Ohio’s Safe Routes to School funds.

Working with the Trumbull County Planning Commission, the city of Warren and Warren City Schools are developing a plan that is analyzing the arrival and dismissal patterns of students attending the district’s four Pre-K-8 schools — Jefferson, Lincoln, McGuffey and Willard.

They also are examining the travel patterns of students who walk and bicycle to the schools.

The Safe Routes to School team held a kickoff meeting last week to discuss the analysis and ways to improve the safety for students walking and bicycling to school. A key part of the School Travel Plan is an online parent survey about how students travel to and from school in Warren.

Surveys are available for parents of Pre-K through 8th grade students at:–parent–survey.
