BAZETTA — A Girard man died following a crash early Wednesday morning on state Route 5, according to the Ohio State Highway Patrol.

The crash occurred just before 6 a.m. after William C. Ketterer, 52, slid off the road because of snow, according to a news release from the patrol. His vehicle then struck a guardrail and stopped in the right lane.

Sgt. Philip Robinson said Ketterer got out of the truck and called to report the crash before having a medical emergency, which was the cause of death. The right westbound lane was closed for about 90 minutes, Robinson said.

The Trumbull County coroner is investigating the cause of death.
